New Executive Director Sheryl Hoffman hosted the November 2007 Spaces benefit auction – a well attended event on Cleveland’s Superior Viaduct. Hoffman was the founder and first Executive Director of Art House in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood.

The Bokman Books to be featured at SPACES Annual Benefit and Silent Auction

Three of The Bokman Book Collection will be featured at SPACES annual art auction in Cleveland, Ohio, Saturday, November 3. The theme of the auction is Garden Noir: Where the Wild Things Are. The books on display feature errie but gorgeous stitching – giant caterpillars and imaginary creatures of which William S. Burroughs would be proud.

See See Creative, based in Durham, North Carolina, focuses on emerging visual artists in medium-sized North American markets. We specialize in photography and hand made books of archival quality. See See Creative also collaborates with writers, documentarians and other media artists.

Artists

David Bergholz 
Fine art photographer David Bergholz uses Polaroid and digital  cameras often arranging his images in complex collages. His Polaroid collages were exhibited at the Cleveland Botanical  Garden in 2004 in a show titled, “In and Around Our Home.” His Polaroid and digital collages have been shown in the NEO+1  exhibit at the Murray Hill Galleries LLC in 2005 and in 2006 at the  Heights Arts Gallery and the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA) in Oberlin Ohio. Mr. Bergholz’s conceptual installation piece, “The Archeology of  Philanthropy,” appeared at SPACES in Cleveland in 2003 and at  the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh in 2004.  Mr. Bergholz retired several years ago having served as the  executive director of the George Gund Foundation in Cleveland  Ohio for 14 years.  His work is represented by Bonfoey Gallery. He has three grown sons and is married to writer Eleanor Mallet. Mr. Bergholz’s web site is www.davidbergholz.com.

Shannon Bokman: The Bokman Books

Shannon Bokman creates hand-bound art books, using fourth-century binding techniques, coupled with found objects, woods, specialty papers, and paint treatments. She makes her home in Cleveland, Ohio, in the Hyacinth Loft Building – innovative artist live/work space dedicated to media artists – and is currently collaborating with carpenter Gregory Scott on a distressed series of wooden books. Her book series called “The Collection” is available at the Detroit Studio, Cleveland, Ohio.

Siobhan Macrina Tiago do Chile

Ms. Tiago do Chile is a fine art photographer specializing in rain forest photography throughout the world. She has worked extensively in Brazil, Costa Rica and Madagascar. She graduated from Antioch College where she got her start in photography by working with paleontologists studying lemurs in Brazil’s rain forests. She is married to award winning Brazilian poet Fernando Antonio Tiago do Chile of Recife, Brazil.
